More About Arlington

In 1841, after the battle between Texas General Edward Tarrant (where Tarrant County gets its name) and the Village Creek Native Americans, settlers established a trading post in present-day Arlington. The rich soil attracted farmers and agriculture-related businesses. The city was named after General Robert E. Lee’s Arlington House in Arlington County, Virginia.

Arlington, located approximately 12 miles from downtown Fort Worth and 20 miles from downtown Dallas, is a city in Tarrant County. Arlington continues to grow, being the 48th most populous city in the United States, 7th most populous city in Texas, and the 3rd largest municipality in the metroplex.

Many businesses choose Arlington as their headquarters. With high job opportunities plus the low cost of living, Arlington is a great place to work and live. The University of Texas at Arlington, a college known for public research, also calls Arlington home.

It not only has a huge workforce, it also attracts sports fans of all kinds. Just some of the sports teams to cheer on are the Texas Rangers at the Globe Life Park, Dallas Cowboys at the AT&T Stadium, and the Dallas Wings at the College Park Center.
Arlington also takes bowling seriously. The International Bowling Campus houses the United States Bowling Congress, the International Bowling Hall of Fame, and the International Bowling Museum.

Arlington also hosts two fun theme parks: the fast-paced roller coasters at Six Flags Over Texas and the biggest water slides in the area at Hurricane Harbor. Both parks only blocks away from each other offer fun, excitement, and long-lasting memories.
